Date of Event:  Saturday, July 17, 2010

Registration deadline:  July 13, 2010

Cost:  none

Name of Event:  Fort to Sea Drive and Hike

Description of Event:  Once the Corps of Discovery built Fort Clatsop , they turned their attention to exploring the land nearby.  Some of their travels took them southwest to the area’s bounteous beaches, including what are now Sunset Beach and Seaside. A 6.5-mile trail now runs much of the same forest, fields and dunes that the Corps traveled. The Fort to Sea Trail wends its way through the woods south of Fort Clatsop to Sunset Beach on the Pacific Ocean, covering land that once was home to the Clatsop Indians who helped the Corps.

Our drive will take us to the parking area at the Sea, where we’ll board a shuttle bus to the Fort Clatsop – we’ll hike the 6.5 miles from the Fort to the Sea.  You should plan for an entire day – we’ll board a 12:53pm shuttle bus at the Sea, begin hiking at the Fort about 1:30pm and arrive at the Sea around 4pm.  We’re not planning to take a tour of the Fort, which requires a fee.  There is a bathroom at the beginning and end of the trail.

Requirement: You must be in good physical condition and be able to hike 6.5 miles.

What to bring:  Hiking shoes, water, snacks, sunscreen, hat, camera and a lunch.

Escape Weekend

July 24-25

This year we will be traveling south to the Historic Prospect Hotel. So join us for a weekend of driving and an overnight stay and dinner with some of the most fun members of the club.  This is an informal event where you can bring your own snacks and beverages for the “social hour” that lasts from shortly after we reach the hotel to just before dinner.  As far as the drive is concerned, we aim to please with scenic roads that have the best surface with the least amount of traffic that we can find.  So your Porsche should feel right at home with its siblings, and you should feel the same way with the other like minded club members.

Space may be limited, so book early and mention the Porsche Club for rooms.  Dinner will be at the hotel.
