ORPCA PRESENTS
SPRING BREAK OUT 2010
March 12 - 14, 2010
This event is on it’s way to becoming the premier Track and Autocross event for the local area and we anticipate it filling up so register early to ensure you get in.
SBO is a multi day event at two venues. We will provide you the opportunity to exercise your car and your mind in pursuit of automotive control excellence at the track and learn some about driving at the professional level at the hotel.
For the Track crowd we will host two different track formats at this event. Novice and up drivers can register for a full HPDE on Saturday. This will feature four run sessions of approximately 25 minutes each, divided into four run groups by driver skill, experience and car potential. This will be a fully instructed HPDE so put on your learning hat and come prepared to build your skills at speed. On Sunday we will host a Lapping day. This is for Advanced intermediate and up drivers. It will feature two rounds of open track driving with no time limits or run groups. There will be no ORPCA/BMWACA instructors available on Sunday as we will be holding our annual instructors certification clinic on Sunday for both clubs in parallel with the lapping day.
For the Autocross folks there is an opportunity to get warmed up for the points season that follows. On Saturday morning we will be holding our famed Driver Skills Clinic. This teaches vehicle behavior as you pass the limits that physics has placed on our vehicles as well as recovery skills when you exceed these limits, under instruction from our friendly autocross instructors. Attendance will be limited to 16 drivers for the clinic so we can exercise you and your car properly. Saturday afternoon you will be able to participate at the limits of adhesion and practice the skills you learned in the morning as we tear up the south paddock course for fast fun and Top Time Of the Day on the tarmac…register
On Sunday IT’S NOT JUST ABOUT DRIVING … IT’S ABOUT LIVING
Last year, over 6,000 teenagers died in motor vehicle crashes, the leading killer of American youths aged 16 to 19, accounting for more than 40% of fatalities in that age bracket. To reduce this number, Tire Rack Street Survival® (TRSS) has developed a non-profit, national driver education program aimed at teaching teens the skills they need to stay alive behind the wheel. We will be delivering this program for your young drivers in a safe, controlled environment with our friendly instruction staff. This will be our third installment of this program in the Portland area and every single young driver that has participated has learned valuable survival skills. This is the stuff they don’t teach our kids in commercial drivers education classes.
We also have a dinner speaker program this year featuring Ross Bentley Author of the Speed Secrets, Driving Coach and Winning Race Driver. Ross will be sharing his experiences and knowledge on Friday evening along with a buffet dinner. On Saturday Evening we have invited Cindi Lux, Professional Race Driver and Champion back to share some of her experience and knowledge with us after a buffet dinner at the event hotel. Both of these very experienced drivers and expert coaches will be available for personal coaching sessions on the weekend. Ross on Saturday and Cindy on Sunday. In addition Ross will be holding some “in paddock” group Q and A sessions on Saturday for you to take advantage of at no additional charge.
