Who is Hurley Haywood?
From 1969 to 2012, he was one of the most successful “Endurance Racing Drivers” of all-time! In 1999 Porsche named Hurley ‘Chief Driving Instructor’ for Porsche’s Sports Driving School.
When people hear the name Hurley Haywood, they immediately think of Brumos Racing. Hurley’s association with Brumos began in 1969 and continues to this day. He built his career and made history behind the wheel of the famous #59 Brumos Porsche. The number of significant race wins and championships that he accumulated throughout his career made him one of the most successful endurance racing driver of all time, a record that stands to this day. Over the past 60+ years 3 sports car endurance races have become legendary; Le Mans 24 hours, Sebring 12 hours and the Rolex 24 at Daytona, they are referred to as the ‘Triple Crown’. Amazingly only 9 drivers have won all 3 races; Hans Herrmann, Hurley Haywood, AJ Foyt, Al Holbert, Andy Wallace, Mauro Baldi, Jackie Oliver, Marco Werner and Timo Bernhard. Hurley won 10 ‘Triple Crown’ races, more than any other driver. Hurley has a new book and a new movie! “Hurley – From the Beginning”, is a comprehensive biography written by Hurley and Sean Cridland, it was published in 2018. “Hurley” a documentary film about Hurley’s life was co-produced by Patrick Dempsey and Derek Dodge in 2018.
