Join President\, Carole Hedstrom and First Navigator\, Brad Hedstrom on a short trip to the coast. \nSaturday\, March 21 – We’ll leave from Wilsonville and take the twistiest way out from the Portland-metro to the iconic Salishan Lodge at Gleneden Beach. The drive is approximately 200 miles with multiple stops for refreshments and bio-breaks. We’ll relax and take in the sea breezes before heading to dinner at The Side Door Café. If you haven’t been\, you are in for a treat. SUMMARY:First Drive of the New Year
DESCRIPTION:Event Description: \nOur first drive of 2026 follows last year’s first drive route. We start in Scappoose and drive west along the Columbia\, crossing in Longview over to the north side and then heading along the Columbia to Cathlamet where we take the ferry to Westport and then on Hwy 30 to Astoria where we end the drive at the Bridgewater Bistro. This drive is a leisurely drive including the amazing experience to cross the Columbia on the last operating ferry. The cold weather route includes deviations into the picturesque towns of St. Helens and Rainier and stays at low elevations. We recommend all season or winter tires for safety.\nThere are two route options\, one for cold weather (as it should be in January) and one for warm weather (what could happen in January). Starting and End Location are identical; the ferry ride is in both routes. We will notify all registered attendees a few days before the drive which of the routes we will be taking. \nWe look forward to welcoming old and new members to this exciting drive event. RSVP will be required.  If you’re not already a club member\, and would like to join us on events like these\, join ORPCA here. \nEvent Organizer: Heinz Holzapfel \nEvent Stats:\nNumber of Groups: 2 (12 cars each)\nTotal Miles: 100\nTotal Drive Time: 2 hours drive time\, total 3 hours with rest stops and ferry ride \nDigital Navigation Support: \nRidewithGPS link will be provided to attendees with Driving Directions. \nRegistration Information: \nRegistration will open on December 18 at 7 p.m. and close on January 7 at 5 p.m. Volunteers will be needed for Leads and Sweeps.
