Driving Events

Upcoming DRIVING Events

Drives and Tours are group driving events on public roads
in a social, non-competitive environment

We organize and offer more than 75 driving events per year for our valued members:

  • Midweek Drives: sporty and casual, 2-3 groups of 12 cars each, 60-120 miles, 2-3 hours driving time
  • Saturday Drives: sporty and casual, 2-3 groups of 12 cars each, 60-120 miles, 2-3 hours driving time
  • Sunday Drives:  casual and easy going, 2-3 groups of 12 cars each, 60-120 miles, 2-3 hours driving time
  • SUV Drives: explore the back country, occasional unpaved roads, 1-2 groups of 12 cars each, 60-120 miles, 2-3 hours driving time
  • Model Specific Drives: restricted for specific models  or generations like aircooled, Boxsters, GT cars, …, sporty and casual, 2-3 groups of 12 cars each, 60-120 miles, 2-3 hours driving time
  • Special Drives: Summer Eve Drives, Valentines, Oktoberfest, …, sporty and casual, 2-3 groups of 12 cars each, 60-100 miles, ~2 hours driving time
  • Single Day Tours: sporty and casual, 1-2 groups of 12 cars each, 100-250 miles, 3-5 hours driving time
  • Multi Day Tours: explore Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Northern California, 3-5 days, 500 – 1200 miles

In addition there are also Drives and Tours you can attend as a PCA member, organized by

  • our neighboring Regions like Pacific Northwest, Cascade, High Dessert
  • PCA including Treffens and Porsche Parade, the yearly PCA convention.

A Drive / Tour drive group is typically 12-15 cars. Participants usually have a navigator with them, thus allowing the driver to focus on driving. But we also provide support for the digital navigation app RidewithGPS for all driving events.

Since Drive and Tours take place on public roads, the prevailing traffic laws must be obeyed. That still leaves plenty of room for fun and safe driving on the spectacular twisty roads you’ll find on nearly every Tour. And even at normal speeds, it’s quite a rush to be in the middle of a pack of gleaming Porsches snaking their way through forests, along waterways and over scenic mountain passes.

Our drives also have an important social aspect. The casual atmosphere at meet-up, during rest stops and after the event at lunch or dinner lends itself to relaxed conversations with your fellow club members.

A Tour isn’t considered complete unless it involves at least one and sometimes several opportunities for snacking, breakfasting, brunching, lunching, picnicking, or fine dining with wine tasting.

Our great state offers an incredible variety of driving and sightseeing experiences. Our drives and tours cover the beaches of the west, the forests of the Coastal Range, the farmlands of the Willamette Valley, the towering Cascades, the wine country and the high plains of eastern Oregon and Washington.

Our multi-day tours extend to our neighboring states Washington, Idaho, Montana, British Columbia and California.

Drive and Tour planners put together spectacular routes covering sweeping highways, scenic byways, the curviest secondary roads and forest service roads available. No matter how many miles you’ve logged in this state you’re sure to be amazed and thrilled by our tour routes.

Laying the Groundwork for 2026 Events

October is one of my favorite months. I enjoy the warm, muted colors of autumn, the slanted rays of sunlight before the Pacific Northwest slips into its grey winter coat. For me, it’s also a time of reflection about the months that have passed and a welcome phase of routine before the winter holidays. Even though there is routine and less travel, planning for the coming year is in full swing. As you probably know, Q4 is when the Club starts laying the groundwork for events in the coming year.

Although the Board will meet and strategize and outline events for 2026, this is a member-led Club. I would like to solicit your input and feedback. Please drop me an email or give me a call with your thoughts about what worked this year, as well as what didn’t. The goal is improvement! What can we tweak, what can be improved? Your constructive criticism is welcome, but remember, we are all volunteers, so please be gentle.

The 65th Year of ORPCA has been great! There have been 58 drives so far, two perfect runnings of Northwest Passage, and two new multi-day tours (Snake & Bake and Scenic Oregon). Road and Fork, the smaller social gatherings at various ethnic restaurants, have been added and are very popular. We added more special interest drives in the summer, more ladies’ drives, a pride drive, and turned up en masse at more local cars and coffee events. In brief, we were out and about and seen in more places than ever.

We would like to keep the momentum going for 2026. In order to do that, volunteers are needed and welcome. If you have an idea for an event or would like to give a little time to the Club, please contact me. Being part of the backbone of an event is very satisfying. Organizing, helping and volunteering don’t always put you at the forefront, but rather allows you to see the benefit of your efforts through the smiles on others faces.

Let’s drive 2026 together! Contact me with your ideas and tweaks.

You can reach me at [email protected].Â
