Driver’s Skills Clinic – SOLD OUT

Our annual Driver's Skills Clinic is offered on Saturday, March 30, 2019 in the South Paddock of Portland International Raceway (PIR) - See directions below. Please arrive by 7:30am.

This event is sold out
Using your own car, drivers will receive instruction about driving and car handling techniques from basic to advanced that will be useful for safety, daily driving and autocross competition. Loaner helmets are available. The cost is $80.00 and is limited to 30 drivers. There will be a wait list if we fill up. Registration will include lunch and free entry into the afternoon “Test and Tune” from 1:00pm-5:00pm which is a sample autocross course. Test and Tune still has room: For more information on the Test and Tune please go to: Test and Tune. For those attending, you will also be able to apply your newly acquired skills the following morning, Sunday, March 31, if you register for Autocross #1.

Schedule:

Students should arrive at 7:30am for Tech inspection.

Class is from 8:15am-9:00am

Driving instruction is 9:00am-12:00pm

Lunch break 12:00pm-1:00pm

Test and Tune from 1:00pm-5:00pm

We recommend that students purchase and read Secrets of Solo Racing by Watts prior to the class.

Autocross Test and Tune

Join us for Autocross Test and Tune in the South Paddock of Portland International Raceway (PIR), from 1:00pm-5:00pm (please arrive by Noon).

The Test and Tune offers Driver Skills Clinic participants an opportunity to experience a real autocross. Other drivers can warm up and get a little seat time before the season starts on Sunday. Drivers can also try out their cars with any new equipment or adjustments they may have made to their cars over the winter. There will also be an opportunity for participants to have an annual tech performed on their cars.

The fee is $30 for all attendees (Note: This is included for the Driver Skills Clinic participants.) There will be a cap of 60 participants. Please arrive by Noon.

Autocross #1

Join us for Autocross #1, our first event of the year. It will be held Sunday, March 31, 2019 in the South Paddock of Portland International Raceway. See the section "Access to the South Paddock" below for directions to this area.

Event Fees: For ORPCA/PCA members the cost is $40.00. For non-members the cost is $45.00.

Registration: Autocross team has selected Motorsportsreg.com for the registration tool this year. Click here to register. Note: Participation is limited to 60 drivers.

All drivers must go to Onsite Check-in at the time of arrival at the paddock for car number verification, run group and work assignment. Onsite Check-in opens at 7:30am. Instructors and loaner helmets are available for new drivers.

Once you have checked in and the course is complete, you can walk the course. The course is open for walking when the design committee releases it; generally around 8:00am.

At 8:45am there is a mandatory Drivers meeting and the first car runs at 9:00am.

Porsche Pirelli Trophy West – Come Join Us

April 12 - April 14

Now in its 12th season, the Pirelli Trophy West USA championship has continued to grow as an outstanding series for Porsche official customer racing. The paddock has a mix of drivers with different ambitions, but a strong common bond forged by the thrill of competition on board Porsche machinery.  There are eight venues on the schedule for 2019 with Portland as the 3rd stop.

There are five classes: Diamond and Diamond Masters (2017 – 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup), Platinum (2015 – 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup), Silver (Cayman Clubsport GT4 MR) and Bronze (2016 Cayman Clubsport GT4 Trophy). The classes are split into two races, with Diamond, Diamond Masters and Platinum (911 GT3 Cup) in the first race, and Silver and Bronze classes (Cayman GT4) in the second.

Also, in Portland, and new for 2019, is the Porsche Air-Cooled Cup USA. This includes Porsche Air-Cooled 964, 993 Cup cars, and other Porsche Air-Cooled machines. The engines are all Air-Cooled but the competition will be hot!  

This is the best part: There is no cost to come to this event!

WHO:                A Porsche Motorsports Series promoted by Competent Motorsports and operated by Portland International Raceway and Friends of PIR.

COST:            There is no admission charge to the Pirelli Trophy West USA races.

This event is an opportunity for Porsche owners, future owners and Porsche Club of America members in the Northwest to gather, celebrate and network. This event is an opportunity for Porsche owners, future owners and Porsche Club of America members in the 10 PCA Regions in Zone 6 to gather, celebrate and network. In addition to the racing, the Oregon Region PCA has added other events. There will be a Garage visit Saturday morning, an Autocross event Sunday morning and we are working with Competent Motorsports to have tech sessions during the weekend with the racers and team owners.

NEW: Garage Visit Added: As part of the Porsche Pirelli Trophy event weekend, we have made arrangements to visit the car collection of Ken Austin, the founder of A-dec and owner of the Allison Inn and Spa in Newberg on Saturday, April 13 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am. NEW: Autocross Added: Hosted by our own Autocross team, please join us for a special Porsche Pirelli Trophy West regional autocross on Sunday, April 14 from 10:00am-2:00pm in the South Pits at Portland International Raceway (PIR). This is an entry level autocross that allows our PCA members to get a taste of Autocross on a more casual and fun format! Instructors will be on site to assist those who need coaching. Loaner helmets available. Walk-ups permitted based on availability. This event is exclusive to Porsches and provides participants a safe and controlled environment to explore the capabilities of your cars. Cost is Cost is $25 for 5 runs! Garage Visit: Ken Austin Car Collection

April 13 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

As part of the Porsche Pirelli Trophy event weekend, ORPCA has made arrangements to visit the car collection of Ken Austin, the founder of A-dec and owner of the Allison Inn and Spa in Newberg.
We will meet at the location of the collection in Newberg, OR and be done in time to get back to Portland International Raceway for an afternoon of racing. There will not be an organized drive out or back. Location details will be provided to those who have registered for the event.
We only have room for 40 people, so please RSVP with the number of people attending. This is only open to PCA members, so you will need your PCA region and member number to register.

Special Autocross – Sunday, April 14 at PIR

Please join us for a special Porsche Pirelli Trophy West regional autocross on Sunday, April 14 from 10:00am-2:00pm in the South Pits at Portland International Raceway (PIR). Our own ORPCA AX program is hosting this. It is an entry level autocross that allows our PCA members to get a taste of Autocross on a more casual and fun format! Instructors will be on site to assist those who need coaching. Loaner helmets available. Walk-ups permitted based on availability. This event is exclusive to Porsches and provides participants a safe and controlled environment to explore the capabilities of your cars.

Registration closes on Friday, April 12 and participation is limited to 80 participants. Cost is $25 for 5 runs. It is strongly suggested that you register early for an event to ensure a spot. Tech Inspection and Check-in begin at 8:30am. This is a non-points event and will not count towards any regional club’s 2019 Autocross series.

Midweek Casual Drive – April

The first midweek casual drive of 2019 will be on Tuesday, April 23.

We will leave from the Fred Meyer’s Parking Lot, located at Cornelius Pass Rd. and Imbrie Dr. (7355 NE Imbrie DR Hillsboro, OR 97124) Google Maps Link

We will meet at 9:00 and depart promptly at 9:30.

The casual drive will go through the local hills and will conclude with a lunch stop. Total drive distance is about 85 miles. We go rain or shine. Navigator not required.
