Board of Directors

Larry Hannan, President
[email protected]

My wife Cathy and I joined PCA and the Oregon Region in 2005 when we purchased our first Porsche, a 1995 993 Carrera Cabriolet. Luckily for us the Porsche Parade took place in Portland the following year and that was the event that got us active in the Oregon Region. This next year will be my fourth year on the Board of Directors and last year as President. 2018 was a busy year for the Club and 2019 is already setting up to be busier. In addition to our regular events and PCA events there are a few multi-region events in the planning stages. I encourage everyone to come out and participate in our events and meet your fellow Porsche enthusiasts, because as the PCA motto says: “It’s not just the cars, it’s the people”. I am honored to serve as the President of the Oregon Region and look forward to an exciting year

Wow, I can hardly believe that this is my 15th year as an Oregon Region Porsche Club member and my second year as your Vice President. We had an event packed year in 2018! Our traditional events such as Autocross, Arrive and Drives and Monthly Socials were very well attended. Last year the club participated in the new all German marque event German Palooza at Portland International Raceway August 2018. You can expect that event to be even bigger and better this year. Mark your calendars for August 3rd we’re always looking for volunteers! For 2019 we have added new events such as the soon to be announced Porsche Pirelli Trophy West which has been scheduled for April. We are also, excited about the possibility of collaborating with neighboring PCA Regions to create joint events across the Northwest. Once again, I pledge to serve as your Vice President for another year and would like to thank you all for your support last year. We look forward to a bigger and better year in 2019!

Peg Ryan, Secretary and Communications Director

I have been Secretary and Communications Director since 2017. We added a new car to our garage in 2018, a sapphire blue, 2016 Boxster S. I am excited about this car because I will be “racing” it in the Autocross events this year. It is my honor to be able to communicate with all of you in the many formats available to us and to serve as Secretary. From the weekly email blasts, the monthly Anzeiger and the web, I hope you feel like you know what is going on in the club, through one or all of those options. We are working on updating our web to have better and simpler menus, more graphics, and a calendar with the ability to filter on types of events. Our goal is to release this sometime in Q3. We also are working on some new opportunities for events that we are excited to bring to you. Keep an eye out for these. I look forward to a great 2019! If you have ideas for any of our communication tools, please let me know. Also, don’t hesitate to ask for help—you can always reach me on email at [email protected].

Even though I test drove my first Porsche in 1986, the financial priorities of life kept creeping in and I did not finally buy my first one until 2015, a white 2011 911S Cabriolet. Then it took me a year to work up the courage to attend an Arrive and Drive, but I’ve been hooked on the club ever since. My wife Diane and I have done two beach getaways and are eagerly looking forward to our third Northwest Passage this June. We were the tourmeisters of last year’s Cabin Fever Tour to eastern Washington and will be leading it again this year. Although I’m a fourth generation Oregonian, I spent most of my career in southern California where I was a CPA and then the financial owner/partner of a couple of water purification related businesses. After that Diane and I came back to Portland where I enjoy working for one of the best engineering firms in the country. Although Diane has other plans for me, I could work forever. Long ago I ran trail ultramarathons but am limited now to just riding my bicycles. I am honored to be serving as ORPCA’s treasurer. While there are many ways to serve the Club, the role of treasurer matches well with my experience and “accountant-ish” proclivity to introversion.

Porsches have been a part of my life since my early 20s. In my teens I loved watching the races at PIR and then did SCCA racing in the 80’s. At 23 years old I bought my first Porsche, a Guards Red 1978 911 SC Targa, and in 1985 sold it and bought a new guards red Carrera Targa. In 1987 I sold it and bought a white 1979 911 SC. Now, with 188k miles on the original engine, it’s my favorite and in beautiful shape. Given my background with Porsches, I am very excited to be a part of the ORPCA Board. I joined the club in my early 20’s and stayed a member for several years. Given travel and work commitments I eventually quit the club and yet missed it so much! I rejoined ORPCA 4 years ago and joined the Board 3 years ago and as the Marketing Director in charge of our sponsors, advertising, the PIR club corrals and our display at the Portland Auto Show. I am a Lake Oswego resident and aside from cars, I’ve been a sales/marketing executive and business owner in the high tech industry in international business for many years. I currently own a commercial Drone consulting and services business and enjoy many sports including golf, snow and water skiing.

I wanted a Porsche since I was in Jr. High school and saw a nun driving down the road in an Orange Cabriolet with her habit waving in the breeze. We now own a Tangerine 911T. I have been a member of ORPCA since the early 80’s and joined the board in 2017. I like to entertain, travel, cook, enjoy art and music. I am always looking for ways to do fun things in a different way. I serve on the Social Committee as well as the Scholarship committee. In the event you have musical talent, are an artist, like to entertain, or would like to look for ways to help us reach out to the local High Schools in the area that have automotive training, please feel free to contact me at [email protected].

Having been “car people” since birth, my wife Linda (a PCA member in her own right) and I have been ORPCA members since 2016 when we bought our Panamera 4S and right away joined PCA/ORPCA. After attending a couple Dinner/Socials and Arrive and Drives we were hooked on the activities and the people! We still look at each other all the time and say “We shoulda done this a long time ago!” As your new Membership Director, I hope Linda and I can assist the other Board Members and volunteers to help make your ORPCA experience as great as ours have been. Please look us up at our events if we haven’t met yet and don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any membership questions or issues. See you on the road!
